Landlord & Vacant Property Registrations

In an effort to better manage vacant properties in the City the Council enacted an ordinance requiring the owner's of vacant properties to file an annual registration. Within 30 days after a property has become vacant the owner of that property must register it with City Hall. A form is provided for this registration and an annual fee of $200 is required at the time of registration. All fees, including fees owed from previous years must be paid before a new occupancy or building permit will be issued for that property.

Owner's of rental property are required to register their rental property with the City Clerk no later than January 31 of each year. A form is available for this registration and a fee of $25 for each dwelling unit and $10 for each additional unit is required at the time of registration.

Owner's of vacant property and landlords may designate an authorized representative who will register the property with the City if the owner lives more than 50 miles away.
